Strengthening the Nervous System
it in Easy Pose. Put each hand in this mudra: lock down the Mercury (pinky) finger and Sun (ring)finger with the thumb and keep the Jupiter and Saturn fingers (index and middle fingers) together and pointing straight up.
The elbows are bent and rest against the rib cage. Your hands are at shoulder level about twelve inches from the body. The palms of the hands are facing each other and stay facing each other throughout the movement.
Inhale in three or four quick strokes through the "O" shaped mouth. With each stroke of the breath, jerk the hands back toward your shoulders. Both hands move at the same time.
The inhale portion, during which you jerk your hands back three or four times, is extremely fast. It should be completed in about one second.
Exhale through the mouth in one stroke and return to the starting position. This jerky motion is a self-created nervousness done consciously so that the energy in you can balance.
Continue for 11 Minutes
TO FINISH: Inhale, hold the breath for 10-15 seconds, stay in the position, and repeat the shaking movement of the hands so powerfully that the whole body shakes. Move your spine, shoulders, and arms with your shaking. Repeat this sequence two more times.
COMMENTS: After the first two minutes of this kriya the action becomes difficult, but you must continue to move quickly.
This jerk can give you a new nervous system. When you become tired, it is the time to overcome the urge to slow down. Keep the rhythm and fight it out.
When practiced regularly and correctly, this kriya can give
you a new nervous system.
