WAHE GURU JI KA KHALSA WAHE GURU JI KI FATEH!
Dear Family and Friends, Sat Nam! In this issue of Keeping up/Connections we move from the continent of Africa (which was our last report in order to have a look as Sikh Dharma and 3HO in South America. During our summer in New Mexico I was very happy to have a chance to speak to Guru Sewak Singh and Subagh Kaur from Sao Paolo, Bra-zil. Brazil seems to be another of those fast growing, dynamic places where people are very interested in Kundalini Yoga, Sikh Dharma and all the 3HO teachings.
So Subagh Kaur and Guru Sewak have their hands full and keep busy in spreading the light.
Guru Sewak Singh works as a psychotherapist in the 14 million strong city of Sao Paolo. He maintains two offices in different parts of the city and tells us that his practice is so popular and filled up that he no longer has any slots to accept new patients. He had been practicing psychoanalysis for 14 years before he met the Siri Singh Sahib. When asked how meeting the Siri Singh Sahib affected his work he said, "I knew that the approach stemming only from the analytical mind is limited and when I saw the Siri Singh Sahib at work I realized that his analysis rests on the Guru, which means that it is based on Truth and not on doubt.
The scientific analysis is usually based on superficial behaviour and not on the central projection from the core of the being.
Now I feel that my work is a heart-center work which is more integrated and complete than my previous approach in psy-choanalysis. I felt that my meeting with the Siri Singh Sahib brought deep in-sights, and with the grace of the wisdom of the Guru I can now see the positive effects that this has brought to me and my patients in my practice."
Guru Sewak further told us that he integrated acupuncture, yoga and meditation in his treatments, and he always starts out by doing his patient's numerology.
Subagh Kaur teaches most of the classes at the ashram in Sao Paolo, mainly Kundalini Yoga for all ages plus one class of Yoga aerobics per week. Other sponsored activities include Kirtan every two weeks and a langar for needy children once a week. Subagh Kaur tells us that the interest in classes and other activities is so great that they have obtained a piece of land in a lush tropical setting 30 minutes away from Sao Paolo on which the first Gurdwara of Sao Paolo will be constructed together with an Ashram. All the permits have been procured from the Government that are needed in order to start this venture and December is the date when the first steps of the actual construction will commence.
Subagh Kaur asked me to extend her personal invitation to the Khalsa Family and let you know that she and Guru Sewak Singh would be immensely happy to receive you in Sao Paolo in case you would like to come to visit them! She did request however that you write to them a minimum of two months in advance before you come to that they can plan and prepare a very special vacation for you! Their address is:

From South America we would like to travel to India to bring you some news from the children's mid-yearly break from school in Mussoorie in which MSS Ram Das Singh Khalsa from L.A. took part.
He kindly shares the following news with us.
This year the 14 day break was spent in the lovely setting of Kashmir, India.Fifty-four children participated, with six adults as guides. Six houseboats were rented, each housing one adult in charge of a group of the children. The holiday was reported to have been very relaxing with many different activities. In case of rain the children entertained themselves with charades, and when the electricity permitted, even rented televisions and videos for long cozy video sessions.
Otherwise the swim boats seemed to be the order of the day from which swimming and waterskiing could take place.
In the evenings MSS Sat Santokh Singh Khalsa held the "Creating Your Future" workshops which is a social action training program for youths to which Mukhia Singh Sahib is now professionally dedicated. In these workshops the young people are trained to become more aware and knowledgable about major issues facing the world and their power to influence these events. The issue of the enormously rapid desecration of the rainforest and its future effect on the planet at this catastrophic rate was discussed and planned tor at these evening sessions. As it stands today, one acre of rainforest is being destroyed per every second of the day. The interest of the children was strongly awakened over this subject and they are now learning more about this is-sue. Other topics of discussion were their schooling and their stay in India.
The kids reportedly went back to school radiant and refreshed and the adults left equally relaxed, radiant and refreshed with some very good memories.
